Static routes being ignored

Hello,

I have a WAN and I have two routers one in the UK and one in the states and I'm running OSPF. When the two routers neighbored everything in the UK got routed through the US which is fine except for certain traffic. I've put in static routes but traffic is still being sent through the states. Does anyone know why the routers would ignore the static routes?

Re: Static routes being ignored

If the routes being advertised via OSPF are more specific, they will be chosen even if the static routes have a lower Administrative Distance.

For instance, if you have static route:

ip route 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 [gateway]

but you also have OSPF routes:

192.168.1.0/24

192.168.2.0/24

The OSPF routes will be chosen but 192.168.1.0/24 and 192.168.2.0/24 and all other routes within 192.168.0.0/16 will be used by the static route.

HAHA that's soooo it .. I haven't tested it yet but I'm advertising OSPF out the specific interface and the static route is the whole /24 so the ospf route is more specific!

Thanks so much
