Stratacom - IGX/BPX - How do trunks manipulate the VPI

1. I wondered if when ATM cells transverse a long path (across multiple IGX trunks) would there be multiple VPI changes?

a. Would your answer change if the trunks are ?virtual trunks??

b. Could you elaborate regarding the VPI change in between connections, trunks and vrt-trks

2. Why do virtual trunks are configured with a VPI while physical trunks are not? Do physical trunks move any cells without manipulation the VPI?

In a switch cells that belongs to a given virtual circuit can be extracted from the combination of a virtual channel and a virtual path and passed to another combination of a virtual channel and a virtual path.Refer URL
