Stuck

OK Gang this is what I got going.

I have a connection from COX professional services.

(IP address are not real that I post)

I plugged in to F0/0 (this is not a T1)into my 2621 router.

ip 50.142.78.211

mask 255.255.255.224

gw 50.142.78.201

I set an ip route of 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 50.142.78.201

I plug my little linsys switch into F0/1 on the 2621 router

Gave int f0/1

ip 10.10.10.5

mask 255.255.255.0

Gave my workstation

ip 10.10.10.50

mask 255.255.255.0

gateway 10.10.10.5

I can ping external from the router but not my laptop plugged into the linsys switch.

I can ping int f0/1 from my laptop but nothing beyond that.

I also tried putting in a ip default-gateway of 50.142.78.201

If your workstation has address 10.10.10.50 and is attempting to gain outside access you will need Network Address Translation. It is not clear from what you posted that you have configured NAT. Without NAT the outside will not have a route to your workstation.

Re: Stuck

No I have not configured NAT and never have. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Stuck

The NAT configuration would look something like this:

interface fast0/0

ip nat outside

interface fast0/1

ip nat inside

!

access-list 50 permit 10.10.10.0 0.0.0.255

!

ip nat inside source list 50 interface fast0/0 overload
