Supervisor engine Active and Hot issue

We are having 2 Cisco Supervisor Engine 720 (WS-SUP720-3B) and connected in 7613 Router. One supervisor Engine having software Version 12.2(18) SXD6 and other is having Software Version 12.2(33) SXH4.

Now we are showing command show module it’s shown as one Supervisor Engine is (Active) and other is (Cold) and it’s can’t switch over to each other??

So let me know that is this due to different Software version or not ??

Actually I know about Active and Hot standby so I want to know detail.

Hello J.prajapati,

yes indeed the same supevisor model, memory size and IOS image is needed to build an SSO pair

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SXF/native/configuration/guide/nsfsso.html#wp1118191

with SSO operational you can get an hot standby state for standby processor

Hope to help

Giuseppe
