Re: System returned to ROM by bus error 0x6125DCFC

Hi,

It shows that

System returned to ROM by bus error at PC 0x6125DCFC, address 0x15A3C78B at 09:49:43 UTC Thu Aug 30 2012

And this address is not valid (compare with "sh region" output).

Crashinfo confirms the crash was due to access to invalid address:

09:49:43 UTC Thu Aug 30 2012: Address Error (load or instruction fetch) exception, CPU signal 10, PC = 0x6125DCFC

I have decoded the crash traces and it points to bug

CSCsb61664    cisco 7200 crash by bus error at ipnat_destroy_all_seq_delta_pairs

which was fixed in 12.4(04)T02 and later releases.

Kind Regards,
Ivan Shirshin

Hi,

Here is the link on troubleshooting Bus Error crashes:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1831/products_tech_note09186a00800cdd51.shtml

I can take a look into the root cause, if you attach "show version", "show region" and crashinfo file (should be in the router flash).

Kind Regards,

Hi,

Re: System returned to ROM by bus error 0x6125DCFC

Hi,

If you follow strictly the same branch, it would be 12.4(4)T8:

http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=279042640&flowid=7529&softwareid=280805680&release=15.1.4M4&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=MD&reltype=latest

But there are more relevant releases there that you can choose too as 12.4(4)T8 was released at 13-AUG-2007. You would need to check for HW requirements and the features you need.

Kind Regards,
Ivan Shirshin
