I have a Cisco 1841 router. Can I use standard (ex. Purchased at Best Buy or Walmart) compact flash memory when upgrading. I know in the past this would not work, especially with the Catalyst 6500 series.

Hi Matt,
Not all 3rd party CF will work so you'll have to do some trial-and-error.

I bought a 1GB CF Type 2 card for an ISR router in my lab environment and it worked great. Just remember to format it to the model of router you have.
I actually have a media reader in which I copy all of the files over within windows (beats TFTP) and then load the card and boot.

Before I forget, maximum CF or USB size is 2Gb.
