Hi,
Is there any command which can be used to monitor what application of traffic is flowing in an interface or overall router. Like ftp, http, kazaa, genutela , edonky is flowing via router. So that we can police shape , in short can apply some QoS on those interfaces.
Thanks in advance

Hi Subodh,
Enable Netflow on your routers and export these statistics to a netflow apllication.
You can use the adventnet netflow analyser to collect these statistics.
http://manageengine.adventnet.com/products/netflow/download.html?free
These are the command you will need on your router
int fa 0/0
ip route-cache flow
int fa 0/1
ip route-cache flow
ip flow-export destination
ip flow-export version 5
HTH, rate if it does
Wish you a very happy new year

The above does give you a much better picture but if you just want quick and dirty you can put
ip nbar protocol-discovery
on your interfaces and then do a
show ip nbar protocol-discovery

Hi,
show ip nbar proto-dis..
works ok also one more good command i found out
show ip cache flow | inc ( port numbers )
As we can not install any software , I could not try earlier answer.
Apart from all, I came to know about that website from where we can get some really good network related tools.
Thanx a lot friends and wish u a very happy new year !
