Hi all ,
Traceroute can tell about the delay in the network . i am posting last part of the traceroute
18 1400 ms 1444 ms 1408 ms x.x.x.x
Does it shows a delay ? Behind the traceroute it use icmp protocol .
Thank you

It shows a delay to that hop but may not represent a delay from source to destination.
What is the output from the entire traceroute?
If you ping the destination, what are the response times?

hi
Thanks , the delay from source to destination will be the sum of the delay to the last hop and the last hop to the destination . correct ?

Well .. Let me clear one thing - the ms been shown here are rtt ( round trip timers) as if using ICMP.
What it means rtt may include latency and delay both. So it is not relevant to calculate delay only. Usually people will take delays in place of latency.
Actually "delays" are due to other hold ups (e.g., packet processing, queuing due to network congestion, or retransmission of data due to packet loss). In networking terms, such delays can be incurred on every router on the network path being taken by the data.
