troubleshooting a bad wic card out of the box

in a point-point connection between to 1841 via an NIU i kept getting a red light onthe NIA receiving light and when I tried a different router w/ a different wic card using the same configuration the red light went away and everything was find. now, can i use a crossover cable between to routers with the same wic and set one of the routers to clock source internal and the other line to test again if the wic card is actually bad after say re-setting it and reloading the config? thanks. what show commands or other things can i do to diagnose the wic from the console line?

Re: troubleshooting a bad wic card out of the box

what WICs are these?? WIC-1Ts or 2Ts? if so, yeah, u can use a DTE-DCE cable and clock internal source and check the WIC slots, but since u say that the NIU works with the other WIC slot on some other router, it might be an issue with configuration on the present router or a bad WIC..

just check if the configuraiton and the IOS on both these routers are same...

Hope this helps.. all the best.. rate replies if found useful..
