Trunking and 802.1q

I have a cisco 4503 with a supervisor 6 engine. I want to create a trunk between the router and a switch.

when I do :

switchport mode ?

Access

Dot1q-Tunnel

Dynamic

Privite-vlan

Trunk

I thought I should see :

switchport mode encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

Am I missing someting I do not see where I set the encapsulation

Hi,

this is not switchport mode encapsulation but switchport trunk encapsulation.
