Tunnel Mode IPIP - Huge Blocking Issue

Hello Experts,

HO Router:

---------------

!

interface Tunnel1

ip address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x

Tunnel Source x.x.x.x x.x.x.x

Tunnel Destination x.x.x.x x.x.x.x

Tunnel Mode IPIP

end

!

BO Router:

------------

!

interface Tunnel70

ip address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x

Tunnel Source x.x.x.x x.x.x.x

Tunnel Destination x.x.x.x x.x.x.x

Tunnel Mode IPIP

end

!

With the above Configuration, having Tunnel Mode as IPIP the interface IP Address of Tunnel is NOT PINGING. But the Source and Destination Address of the Tunnel is PINGING.

When, i removed the Tunnel Mode IPIP & re-create the Tunnel, the interface IP Address of the Tunnel started PINGING. Atlast, i tried re-adding the Tunnel Mode IPIP it worked even.

Whether after creating any Tunnel will the Router Processor creates some System Generated Routes or how ?

If i am not wrong, any Tunnel by default is GRE mode right ?

Thanks in Advance for your Answers.

Best Regards,

Guru Prasad R

Re: Tunnel Mode IPIP - Huge Blocking Issue

It may be a encapsulation issue or any mode issues between devices verify that one.
