upgrade of memory errors for 2620xm routers

Hi,

I have purchased extra memory to upgrade my memory on my Cisco2620xm from 128mb to 192mb. However when i try and install the extra memory i get the following message :

*** Warning during size main memory test,

expected bus error does not occur above 128 mb of main memory

C2600 platform with 131072 Kbytes of main memory

My research suggests that i need to upgrade my ROmmon to 12.2(8) from the 12.2(7R) it is at the moment.

Can someone advise whether this a physical replacement of the chip or a simple upgrade of the chips operating system ?

If this is a simple upgrade where do i get the software from and is it simple to do ?

cheers

Richard

Re: upgrade of memory errors for 2620xm routers

You are right you need to upgrade the BOOTprom to 12.2(8r), and it is a physical replacement, the Cisco part number is "BOOT-2600XM-256=".

I usualy go to Kingston's site, because they seem to know everything about memory, including Cisco memory.
