VLAN priority confusion

Hello All,

Assistance and input appreciated.

I'm using the following command :

spanning-tree vlan 1-31,33-4094 priority 8192. This was originally,

spanning-tree vlan 1-4094 priority 8192

Yet, my vlan priorities read:

Vlan                   Root ID          Cost  Time Age Dly  Root Port
---------------- -------------------- ------ ----- --- ---  ----------------
VLAN0031          4127 0023.04ee.bec8     23    2   20  15  Gi0/1
VLAN0999          5095 0023.04ee.bec8     23    2   20  15  Gi0/1
VLAN1001          9193 0015.fab1.a0c0      0    2   20  15

Whay are 31 and 999 still based on 4096 and not 8192?

Regareds,

Hi,

because the output of this command shows the STP priorities of the root bridge and the local switch is only root bridge for VLAN 1001 (cost 0 and no Port to the root).

Try "show spanning-tree bridge brief" or "show spanning-tree brief" to verify the local STP priorities.

Hi,

With little understanding I believe you are taking the output from the non-root switch,
As per my view to resolve this issue.
1) Find out the root bridge in your network
2) type this command "spanning-tree vlan 1-4094 priority 8192" on root bridge --> Mostly core switch of your network.

Hope this helpful to you!
