VLSM for different subnets

Dear all,

a basic question

can i use the listed ip schema for to different networks or i have to be subnet specific for network s wise

10.80.10.129-10.80.10.158 255.255.255.224

10.80.10.161-10.80.11.30 255.255.255.128

Re: VLSM for different subnets

You have to use proper subnetting for this.

The first IP scheme is correct.

The 2nd one is WRONG.

Re: VLSM for different subnets

then what could be the consecutive 2 subnets for a network of 120 hosts

The real problem is that your question cannot be understood.

Re: VLSM for different subnets

as the first networks subnet is ok, what could be the next two subnets for network of 120 hosts with vlsm

Re: VLSM for different subnets

"as the first networks subnet is ok, what could be the next two subnets for network of 120 hosts with vlsm"

10.80.10.192 - 10.80.10.254 255.255.255.192

(note you can't use 10.80.10.161 - 10.80.10.191 because of the way the bit boundaries work)

10.80.11.0 - 10.80.11.63 255.255.255.192

so those are your next 2 subnets if you only want 2 subnets and they must cover 120 hosts. You cannot however use just one prefix/subnet mask as you have tried to do, you need to have the 2 separate prefixes/subnet masks.

Re: VLSM for different subnets

As Paolo has said your question doesn't make a lot of sense. 2 consecutive networks for 120 hosts could be

10.80.10.0 - 10.180.10.63 255.255.255.192

10.80.10.64 - 10.180.10.127 255.255.255.192

but then again it could be many other combinations as well.

One other thing. I very rarely comment on ratings but i fail to see how someone can be rated a 2 when the question is so unclear. Having checked some of your other posts it appears that 2 or no rating at all is what you tend to give.

Please show some appreciation for the efforts of the many unpaid volunteers on these forums.
