VPN Modules - Site to Site VPN

Hi,

Are any VPN Modules required to configure site-to-site VPN on Cisco ISR Routers ? What are VPN modules for ?

ISR (1800/2800/3800) have a build-in encryption acceleration card but require Cisco IOS Software Advanced Security or higher feature set to enable it

If you want the best performance for those boxes, AIM-VPN modules are recommended:

Re: VPN Modules - Site to Site VPN

Thanks.

Could you please also mention the difference between the performance on built-in encryption acceleration card and the AIM-VPN Modules for e.g. in case of 2821 routers.

Are the VPN modules visible from outside the router after installation or are they seated inside the router.
