VPN over ADSL

Hi

I have a prospective customer who have two sites which are currently connected over a wireless bridge connection (both sites have the same subnet).

They intend to install a secondary connection which they would need to become active in the event that the primary connection (wireless) fails

The idea is to install ADSL connections at both sites to which a Cisco router would be connected (CISCO887-SEC-K9 ??) and then run a VPN between the two sites using these routers.

The routers would need to provide the firewall capability to secure against attack from the Wan connection.

If they do this:-

1)      Can the Cisco routers provide a bridged connection, or will they need to migrate to a routed connection?

2)      How will the swap from the wireless to ADSL connection occur in the event of a failure, and how will it swap back?

RRegards

Sam

You will need a routed connection.

You can use a routing protocol for routing around circuit failures.
