My project requires that I use a RSP720-3C-10GE in a CISCO7604 . Due to stock shortages I cannot get the RSP720-3C-10GE. Can I use a VS-S720-10G-3C in the CISCO7604 ? Are there any major differences between the VS-S720-10G-3C and RSP720-3C-10GE ?
In regards to the differences between the two supervisors, hopefully someone else can help you out with this information. From what I understand they should both be very similair however the size of the TCAMs are different. Can anyone else confirm this?
Thanks Conor .. that was very helpful. In essence I sold a RSP720-3C-10GE which is unavailable and I wanted to offer the VS-S720-10G-3C as an alternate and wanted to find out if there is any significant differences other than IOS ? Steven Mazabow (firstname.lastname@example.org)
I've found the following document which has a bit more information.
"The Cisco 7600 RSP 720 uses the same high-performance 720-Gbps crossbar switch fabric as that used by the Cisco Catalyst® 6500 Series Supervisor Engine 720 and combines it with a new, revised, and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC)-based forwarding engine."
