VTP server mode configuration

I the documents I am reading on Cisco.com it says that switches running VTP server mode store their VLAN information in NVRAM, however in reality I am finding that it is stored in flash, in the VLAN.dat file..

VTP server mode configuration

Could you put a link to those docs ?

As far as i know IOS switches always store the vlan info in the vlan.dat file no matter what mode they are in.

VTP server mode configuration

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3560/software/release/12.2_52_se/configuration/guide/swvtp.html

Note

In  VTP server mode, VLAN configurations are saved in NVRAM. If the switch  detects a failure while writing a configuration to NVRAM, VTP mode  automatically changes from server mode to client mode. If this happens,  the switch cannot be returned to VTP server mode until the NVRAM is  functioning.

VTP server mode configuration

I just happened to be reading about this - this is from the 642-813 certification guide:

Catalyst switches in server mode store VTP information separately from the switch configuration in NVRAM. VLAN and VTP data are saved in the vlan.dat file on the switch’s flash memory file system.
