I've noticed several routers with IMA that have "New Config. not yet ACTIVE"

What does this mean?

router>sh atm int atm0/0

Interface ATM0/0:

AAL enabled: AAL5 , Maximum VCs: 255, Current VCCs: 0

Maximum Transmit Channels: 0

VCIs per VPI: 256,

Max. Datagram Size: 4528

PLIM Type: DS1, TX clocking: LINE

Cell-payload scrambling: OFF

0 input, 0 output, 0 IN fast, 0 OUT fast, 0 out drop

Avail bw = 1536

New Config. not yet ACTIVE

As I suspected, the message is not significant as it does not show the actual state of the

interface. As a matter of fact, that command is completely irrelevant for monitoring the

status of the interface or of the IMA group. Therefore, it cannot even be consider a

cosmetic bug, but simply another instance of the multiple IOS commands that, even though available, don't have any implication in the correct functionality of a feature (the IMA circuit in our particular case)

In an IMA circuit, the individual interfaces don't record any statistics, as they are no

longer considered independent, but part of a group instead. For that reason, "show atm

int atmx/y" or "show int atmx/y" don't show (and are not supposed to show) any traffic

statistics.

For troubleshooting or monitoring IMA circuits we can use the commands below:

show int atmx/imay

show ima int atmx/y

show ima int atmx/y detail

show ima int atmx/imay

That line is a bogus message from the IOS. Actually, that command is not used for troubleshooting/monitoring IMA circuits.
