When configuring a complex access-list, can server be downed?
Router has a complex access-list for preventing worm & virus. When the router has these access-list configurations, servers connected router will be well operating.
But, If I delete these acces-list configuration, servers become downed.
I guess that the cause is these servers' insufficient cpu power & memory.
What do you think about that?
In fact, on the screen of sniffer, I see the message of 'ack too long, window frozen'. Network is connected through Gigabit ethernet and 6509 switch. So, these message says that slow response time is according to server.
Re: When configuring a complex access-list, can server be downed
Yes, the server's insufficient cpu and memory may be one of the reasons. Also, to confirm this,I just want to know where did u apply this access-list configuration .Its on the inbound interface or outboud interface of the router.
Which router are u using? What is that server?
These informations will help to trace out the root cause of the problem.
