When plug in BRI module interface, the router 3800 hang.

Hi Experts,

I have tried to plug in the BRI module interfaces with configuration live to the router but it makes the router hang. I also try to restart the router but it still show the same.

THE IOS version as below.

Cisco IOS Software, 3800 Software (C3845-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M), Version 12.4(17a), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)

Hello Cindy,

have you tried to insert the BRI module with the router up and running ?

I wouldn't do so because it isn't supported OIR online insert and removal.

Caution Cisco 3800 series routers do not support online insertion and removal (OIR, or hot swap) of interface cards inserted directly into router slots. You must turn off the router before installing or removing an interface card.

if you are lucky you have damaged only the BRI module or even nothing

This kind of operation has to be done carefully: because OIR is platform dependent.

always check before.

However, is the router behaving correctly ?

Now, before finding the way to insert the BRI be focused on verifying correct behaviour of the device.

This is what i have done.. luckily the bri still okay. sure meaning i have to turn off the router and put in the bri ya.

I will try that and let u know.
