hi,

we have a wic-1adsl module but our service provider is upgrading us to adsl2 next week. does anyone know if the wic-1adsl module will work with an adsl2 curcuit, not worried about the adsl2 speeds its just that the lead time on the adsl2 module is 7 days and the service provider is upgrading us before then to adsl2 so anyone know if the two are compatible and will work , not worried about the speeds at the minute as it is only temporary until our new card comes in.

Hello Chris,

compatibility shouldn't be an issue: during the training phase the two parts can negotiate the maximum common standard

WIC-1ADSL datasheet can be found here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps221/product_data_sheet0900aecd8028aa5a_ps3129_Products_Data_Sheet.html

the following presentation about DSL evolution can help

http://www.broadband-forum.org/downloads/About_DSL.pdf

ADSL2 is defined as G.992.3 and it is not supported by your module

ADSL2plus is defined in G.992.5 and supports legacy.

So verify that your provider is going to use ADSL2+ standard DSLAM linecards.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
