WIC slots on 2621

Hi

I have a 2621 router where I want to install extra ethernet interface in the wic slot. Tried with a 1ENET but what I found out was thats only supported by the 1700 serie.

Must I install 2WIC module that supports ethernet WIC

How do I solv this??

Re: WIC slots on 2621

You cannot add an Etheternet port via a WIC card on the 2621. The only way of getting additional Ethernet ports is to install an NM-1E or an NM-4E in the Network Module slot. This will give you 1 or 4 ports of 10BaseT respectively.

Thanks

Re: WIC slots on 2621

I have the same issue with my 2621.

but i have a couple of things that need clarifying.

1) I can find the NM-1E-2W and NM-4E-2W a lot cheaper than the non -2W models. even though the -2W is supported by the 36xx line, can they still be used in a 2621, obviously anything plugged into those WIC slots would be ignored. or would it just completely fail to function in a 2621?

2) is the Ethernet port on the 1E able to have its own IP address, handle routable/routed traffic and have ACL's applied to it?

3) in the 4E, can each port be assigned its own IP and have traffic routed between them, or is it basically like a 4 port switch?

Thanks

Brian
