Hello all

Could anyone advise if enabling BFD (Bidirectional Forwarding Detection) for BGP on a Cisco 7609 Router causes extra loading on the CPU or impact on Router performance?

Thanks.

Versions prior to 15.1(2)S run BFD in software so depending on the number of BFD sessions, it will affect the CPU hence impacting the router performance.

I've used BFD on 6500, and confirming Edison's reference, have seen CPU impacted, extent of impact also has much to do with BFD frequency.
