Little bit confused about WSA Authentication

Our WSA is using NTLM(SSP) to authenticate all users using the WSA as a explicit forwarding proxy. We have done the following test:

1. User opens Firefox and authenticates successful with e. g. AUENLAND\frodo.beutlin and password gandalf123

2. We use the authcache cli command to check that the user is in the cache

3. User close Firefox

4. In Active Directory we are changing the password from gandalf123 to gandalf123!

5. User opens Firefox and authenticates successful with the old password ... user close Firefox, re-open Firefox and authenticates successful with the new password

6. We flush the authcache ... still the same results

Why is the user able to authenticate with the new and the old password? And what is the target of the authcache ... which information is really stored in this cache?

Thanks in advance,

Edgar
