Non Standard Port connection

Hi,

We've got Ironport S170 which acts as a proxy server. We've got an application which uses Port 44444. The application connects to a Public IP to get some info. The Ironport is setup to proxy on that port (using Secuirty Services/Web Proxy) but we are not seeing any traffic through the Ironport logs/Packet capture. This is causing issues as we have some machines (win7 and 2008) able to connect to the Public IP but not Win XP machines and we are not able to diagnose the issue correctly.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

The Security Services/Web Proxy sttes the port that IronPort is listening on, to proxy that port you need to go to Access Policies - Protocols and User Agents then make sure 44444 is in your HTTP connect ports.

Thanks

Chris

Hi,

The Port is included in teh HTTP CONNECT Ports. I've also included them in Proxy Settings HTTP Ports to Proxy.

Thanx

To clarify, you want to see this traffic go to the S170 but do not see any access logs is this correct?

Are you using WCCP?  If so, you will need to configure WCCP to redirect port 44444.  But with all honesty, for 1 website that uses that port; you might want to consider to just let that traffic out the firewall since the WSA will likely not scan this traffic.
