Hard Disk replacement WAVE-294

Hi all,

Had a firmware issue on WAVE-294. Have received a new device, but wondering if it is possible to take the HDD (with all the config) from the faulty device and place in new WAVE-294, or would this cause issues? There is no backup and the config is quite specialised for this site.

Thanks

ps. HDD in WAVE-294 is internal.

Hard Disk replacement WAVE-294

Hi Johnny,

Don't know exactly what you mean by a firmware problem - if the firmware is faulty moving the old disk to the new WAVE would move the error as well.

Please be aware that part of the configuration is stored in flash and not on disk (some of the stuff, you can see in the CLI).

As the serial number of the unit changes, you may run into some problem with the "certificates".

If the unit is NOT a Central Manager, I wouldn't bother doing that.

Most of the configuration should be available on the Central Manager.

I believe that the procedure for replacing a unit is described in the config guides.

If it's the Central Manager that has failed, then hopefully you have a (somewhat) recent backup copy of the CMS database somewhere.

Having said that, I haven't (as you might have guessed) tried moving disks.

Best regards

Finn
