How to verify GRE return tunnels between WAE and Cisco Router

Hi all,

is there a chance to verify the GRE tunnels on the routers. Especially the GRE endpoint addresses.

Versions:

WAAS ver 4.1.5b

IOS: C2800NM-SPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(15)T9

C3825-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(15)T9

Re: How to verify GRE return tunnels between WAE and Cisco Route

Hi Dieter,

Are you referring to the WCCP GRE encapsulation between the router and WAE?  If so, the GRE packets are use the IP address of the WAE and the WCCP router ID of the router.  The WCCP router ID is chosen the same way a OSPF/BGP router ID is chosen - the IP address of the loopback interface or the highest IP address of an administratively enabled non-loopback interface (when a loopback interface isn't configured).  You can see the WCCP router ID in the output of the command sh ip wccp on the router.  For example:

AST6-DCN-RTR-2#sh ip wccp

Global WCCP information:

    Router information:

        Router Identifier:                   10.88.81.99

Re: How to verify GRE return tunnels between WAE and Cisco Route

Hi Zach,

thanks for the feedback.

And now to my problem: my loopback addresses are not routed in my network, and for this reason the GRE tunnels would not work i assume.

So this brings me to the next question: Is there a chance to define an interface as: "ip wccp source-interface" ?

Re: How to verify GRE return tunnels between WAE and Cisco Route

Dieter,

The ability to specify a source interface for WCCP is currently targeted for the IOS 15.1(4)T release.
