L2 egress method

Hello everyone

Looking at upgrading a setup to WAAS 5.X with Nexus 7k as WCCP router.

Since the 7k does not support the GRE egress method to preserve path affinity, does the L2 egress method solve this issue?

I'm thinking in the sense where optimized traffic is returned to the redirecting router rather than the default gateway.

Looking at a presentation from Cisco Live (BRKAPP-2005) it would suggest that the L2 Egress method will redirect optimized traffic to the redirecting router. Can anyone confirm ?

‒ Rewrite frame dest MAC to Router MAC address

‒ Transmit frame towards redirecting router"

Your understanding is correct.  

Also in WAAS 5.x this is the default configuration  l2-redirect, l2-return, egress-method l2, mask assignment.
