wccp commands not working on WAVE-694-K9

Hello,

I am working on replacing WAE-512-K9 (running code oe512-4.4.5.5) with a newer WAVE-694-K9 ( running code oe694-5.1.1.16).  During this process I am duplicating the config from the old to the new and am running into difficulty getting some of the commands to copy due to the new WAVE-694-K9 not accepting these commands:

wccp router-list 1 X.X.X.X

wccp tcp-promiscuous service-pair 61 62 failure-detection 30

wccp tcp-promiscuous service-pair 61 62 router-list-num 1

wccp version 2

waas01(config)#wccp router-list 1 X.X.255.25

wccp tcp-promiscuous service-pair 61 62                    ^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

waas01(config)#wccp tcp-promiscuous service-pair 61 62 failure-detection 30

                   ^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

waas01(config)#wccp tcp-promiscuous service-pair 61 62 router-list-num 1

                   ^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

waas01(config)#wccp version 2

                   ^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

Can someone let me know what, if any, are the equivalent commands would be on the newer WAVE-694-K9 for the above commands?

Thank you,

Adil

Hi,

In new WAAS IOS code to enable the WCCP first you need to activate the interception method as WCCP.

conf t

interception-method wccp

Hi Adil,

Can you check what is the device mode configured using the command: show device-mode current?

I suspect that device mode is not application-accelerator and that's why those commands are not working.

Can you please check that and correct it if that is the case and then try again.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Kanwal

I had shipped out the unit before receiving this reply. I will run the command once I have it connected to the network. Thank you!

Hi,

In new WAAS IOS code to enable the WCCP first you need to activate the interception method as WCCP.

conf t

interception-method wccp

Hi Balakrishnan,

You are correct.  After entering this command, then it started accepting the wccp commands.  One more questions is what is the command the WAE is looking for by the message, "Router list has been added. Please enable service."

waas01(config)#interception-method wccp

waas01(config)#wccp router-list 1 172.30.255.25

waas01(config)#wccp tcp-promiscuous service-pair 61 62 failure-detection 30

waas01(config)#wccp tcp-promiscuous service-pair 61 62 router-list-num 1

Router list has been added. Please enable service.

Adil

HI Adil,

I guess #wccp version 2.

Regards,

Kanwal

No, it doesn't accept this command.

cdrwaas01(config)#wccp version 2

                                         ^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker

Hi Adil,

Just configure :

waas01(config)#wccp tcp-promiscuous service-pair 61 62 enable

... and you will (hopefully) get a message stating that you have successfully enables the service.

Best Regards

Finn

I think the command it was expecting is "cms enable".

Hi Adil,

"cms enable" registers the WAAS accellerator at the Central manager, so you can configure the WAAS from the CM ... if you prefer a GUI.

... and from there you can setup the WCCP, by clicking around ;-)

And there is probably a checkmark for the enabling of the service :

but what it does is basically sends out the commend to the remote WAAS, you can verify it in the config.

Best regards

Finn

this same problem when im deploy waas,

after enable tcp prosmiscuous, it will move from global-config to whatever mode im forget-im sorry.

after you moved to another global-config just type "enable"

edit : see this link

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_WAAS_Troubleshooting_Guide_for_Release_4.1.3_and_Later_--_Troubleshooting_AppNav

see in the section of enable of WCCP service..

just hit "enable" voilaa..your wccp service turn on.

regards,
