Access Point (AP) 1240 does not associate the Cisco 4400 Series Wireless LAN Controller (WLC)

Core Issue

1240 Light weight Access point is configured for Layer 2 mode

Only the 1000 Series and 1500 Series APs support Layer 2 mode. This is why the 1240 does not join the controller and only attempts the Layer 3 discover/join process. You need to either configure Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) option 43 to point to the management interface IP address or Domain Name System (DNS) resolution of CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER.

For more information on Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP), refer to LWAPP FAQ.

For more information on configuring DHCP, refer to Configuring DHCP Option 43 for Lightweight Access Points.

For more information on 1240 Access point , refer to 1240 Access point Data sheet.
