Introduction

Does CiscoWorks WLSE support 1300 and 1400 Cisco Aironet wireless bridges?

Resolution

CiscoWorks Wireless LAN Solution Engine (WLSE) provides network management support, including configuration, monitoring, and reporting for the Cisco Aironet 1400 Wireless Bridge and Cisco Aironet 1300 Access Point (AP)/Bridge in wireless bridge mode. CiscoWorks WLSE provides Cisco Integrated Wireless support for the Cisco Aironet 1300 when it is configured in AP mode.

The CiscoWorks Wireless LAN Solution Engine (WLSE) is available as a management tool for Cisco Aironet access points operating autonomously (without a Wireless LAN Controller) and wireless bridges. CiscoWorks WLSE is a turnkey, scalable, and centralized management platform with an HTML-based interface. It uses Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Secure Shell (SSH)/Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for managing Cisco Aironet access points and wireless bridges via a Web browser.

As part of the Cisco Unified Wireless Network, operating in Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) mode, the Cisco Aironet 1300 Series can be managed by Cisco wireless LAN controllers and the Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS). The wireless LAN controller provides a network-level view of the wireless LAN, enabling centralized management of devices and policies, providing automatic and dynamic configuration of RF parameters, and enabling advanced services such seamless Layer 2 and Layer 3 mobility, quality of service (QoS), RF firewalling, and location tracking. The Cisco Wireless Control System centralizes many important functions for wireless LAN planning and design, RF management, location tracking, the Cisco Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), and wireless LAN systems configuration, monitoring, and management.
