How exactly works QoS Rate-Limits

--> Subject: WLC 5508, Version 7.4

We want to limit the bandwidth of the guests for the WLAN. There are connected on average 20-40 guests. Exclusively for guests is a 20Mbps SDSL internet connection.

The bandwidth should be limited via the QoS / profile.

We think of 3Mbps Average and 4Mbps Burst data rate limits.

I do not understand the function / interaction between Average and Burst data rate. How exactly does (when, how long, data rate) that with the burst?

Can I compare that with the IOS Rate-Limits (CAR)?

I can not find any detailed description by Cisco or anywhere else?

Can someone explain to me or tell where can I find details on this?

It would be very important to understand that!

cheers Alexander
