Configuring Spanning-Tree Protocol (STP) on the bridge.


Bridges use STP to eliminate loops in an extended network. Bridges exchange bridge protocol data unit (BPDU) messages with other bridges to detect loops, and the bridges shut down selected ports to stop the loops. Bridges also monitor BPDU messages to detect a failure in the network and change their port status to keep the network intact.
