The Cisco Aironet IEEE 802.11g-compliant radio (hereafter called the 802.11g radio) is designed to upgrade Cisco Aironet 1100 and 1200 APs to IEEE 802.11g standards. The radio delivers 100 milliwatts (mW) maximum transmit power at 1, 2, 5.5, and 11 megabits per second (Mbps) data rates and 30 mW maximum at all other data rates. The radio supports data rates of up to 54 Mbps. This upgrade cannot be done using software; you must use the 802.11g radio mentioned in the upgrade kit. Before you install the 802.11g radio, make sure to upgrade to Cisco IOS  Software Release 12.2(13)JA or later. The AP continually reboots if you do not complete this upgrade.

For more information on 802.11g radio installation and upgrade, refer to Cisco Aironet 802.11g Radio Upgrade Instructions.

For more information on the upgrade kit, refer to the Cisco Aironet 802.11G 1100 and 1200 Series Access Point Upgrade Kit.
