Resolution

The EAP retry limit reached for Station error message in the log on Access Points (APs) or wireless bridges can be caused by the following:

  1. Wrong user name and password and too many attempts on the client.

  2. The AP and AAA server are on a congested network.

Suggested workarounds

  1.  Make sure the user name and password is right. Do not make too many attempts. If the problem occurs for a particular client in the network  upgrade firmware , drivers and utility of the client.

  2. Verify if the Radius server is up . On a congested network increase the RADIUS Message Transmission Interval to prevent WLC from  declaring server  down very soon.

  3.  Upgrade the firmware of the access point to fix the timeout  issues,  restart and reconfigure the access point.  Also make sure shared secret between the access point and Radius server is fine.
