Limitations on the number of supported Cisco Access Points (APs) are based on the hardware used. The 4402 Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) with two gigabit Ethernet ports comes in configurations that support 12, 25, and 50 APs.

The limitation on the number of supported access points is based on the hardware that you have. The 4402 WLC with two gigabit Ethernet ports comes in configurations that support 12, 25, and 50 Light Weight Access Points (LAPs). The 4404 WLC with four gigabit Ethernet ports supports 100 LAPs.

  • The 4400 Series wireless LAN controller supports up to 625 rogues, which includes acknowledged rogues, while the 2100 Series supports 125 rogues.
  • 5500 Series Wireless Controller for up to 500 Cisco access points
  • Cisco Flex 7500 Series Cloud Controller Supports 300, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000 and 6000 access points
  • Cisco 8500 Series Controller Supports 300, 500, 1000, 3000, and 6000 access points
  • The 4404 WLC with four gigabit Ethernet ports supports 100 APs.

The Cisco 2000 Series WLC supports up to six Lightweight APs, and the 4100 Series WLC supports up to 36 APs.
