Upgrading AIR-WLC4402-25-K9 to AIR-WLC4402-50-K9

Hi All,

Is it possible to upgrade my 4402 WLC that is currently supporting 25 AP's to 50 AP's?

can it be done via a software update or is the license tie to the hardware and I will be unable to upgrade?

Hi Jason,

I've checked under the Q&A section. Apparently,the license is tied to the hardware. no way to add additional license, unlike the 5500 series where its one hardware, and license based.

you can't upgrade

AIR-WLC4402-25-K9 to AIR-WLC4402-50-K9 ,because the hardware of the two product are different,not base on the license

The answer is No. I had the same issue and had tyo purchase a 5508. Do not buy the 5508-25 and the 25 license upgrade. That method is mroe expensive. Buy the 5508-50 and you also can upgrade more license in the future.
