Resolution

Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP), Message Integrity Check (MIC), and broadcast key rotation are elements of the Cisco Wireless Security Suite. They are designed to prevent sophisticated attacks on a wireless network's Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) keys.

These features are supported in the following client adapter software releases:

  • PCM/LMC/PCI card firmware version 4.25.23 or later, and driver version 8.01 or later
  • Mini PCI card firmware version 5.0 or later, and driver version 2.20 or later
  • PC-Cardbus card firmware version 4.99 or later, and driver version 3.4 or later

Support is also included on the Access Points (APs) in the following versions:

  • 340 and 350 AP - 11.10T
  • 1100 AP - Cisco IOS  version 12.2(4)JA
  • 1200 AP -
    • VXworks version 11.54T
    • Cisco IOS version 12.2(8)JA

  • 1400 Bridge - Cisco IOS version 12.2(11)JA

These features do not need to be enabled on the client adapter. They are supported automatically in the firmware and driver versions listed above. However, they must be specifically enabled on the AP.
