The Cisco Aironet IEEE 802.11g-compliant radio (hereafter called the 802.11g  radio) is designed to upgrade 1100 and 1200 series Cisco Access Points (APs) to IEEE 802.11g  standards. The radio delivers 100 milliwatts (mW) of maximum transmit power at 1,  2, 5.5, and 11 megabits per second (Mbps) data rates and 30 mW maximum at all  other data rates. The radio supports data rates of up to 54 Mbps.

The minimum IOS requirement for this upgrade is 12.2(13)JA. Before the 802.11g radio is installed, make sure that Cisco IOS  Release 12.2(13)JA or later is used. If any lower versions of IOS is used, the AP reboots continously after the 802.11g radio is installed.

Caution: ESD can damage the radio and the internal components of the  AP. It is recommended that the 802.11g radio upgrade procedures be  performed by an ESD-trained service technician at an ESD-protected workstation.

For information on how to install the 1200 series AP, refer to the 1200 Series Installation Instructions section of Cisco Aironet 802.11g Radio Upgrade Instructions.
