Hi, Thanks for the video. 1 question. I noticed that after you converted the unit to LWAPP you had the issue where the unit reboots every 30 seconds. This usually confuses most customers so i prefer the upgrade tool method. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html
I think it has something to do with older units that do not have an MIC installed but have an SSC so using the conversion tool method is prefered as it installs the MIC during the conversion. Thus avoiding the rebooting issue detailed here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_tech_note09186a008072d9a1.shtml#cause8
Either way, great video. It always amazes me how many ways of doing things there really is. Thanks,
Thanks for your feedback. Regarding your question, when we performed the conversion in the LAB it worked great and we faced NO issues with unit rebooting. Actually this procedure is used and tested by TAC engineers multiple times . Indeed there are multiple ways to convert the device and you can pick any.
The only thing is for 1100 series AP's this procedure will not work. Here is the link which will help you:-
Hope this will help.
I would like to appreciate your time to provide your valuable input.
Very well explained, indeed !
Thanks Rajan. I appreciate that.
I am using Product/Model Number: AIR-LAP1242AG-N-K9 with following IOS information:
BOOT path-list: flash:/c1240-rcvk9w8-mx/c1240-rcvk9w8-mx
Config file: flash:/config.txt
Private Config file: flash:/private-config
Enable Break: no
Manual Boot: no
Enable IOS Break: no
buffer size: 32768
Mode Button: on
Now I want to convert this to Autonomous mode but command
"debug capwap console cli
debug lwapp console cli"
are not working. Could you please confirm the command for converting LWAP to Autonomous AP for the mentioned IOS

Upgrading Autonomous Cisco Aironet Access Points to Lightweight Mode
Really the clips is so informative, I had one query regarding the Access Point 1240 AG that when I try to reload the new IOS image to the Access Point, it shows an error. The Led at the Access Point shows Red light at Radio, Green Light at Ethernet and the lights are continously changes at the Status of the Access Point.
One thing more it shows an error while rebooting the AP the not able to initilize the ethernet port.
Kindly suggest the solutions for the same.
Waiting for the response
If you buy from origin AIR-LAP1262N-N-K9, this part number can be converted to AP???
I do not mean this AP convert to LAP back to AP
Hello, great guide
Can somebody help me with one question, how do I know if my AIR-CAP1552E is working with autonomous IOS?
From this post and other sources I've compiled my procedure to change from LWAPP (Lightweight Mode) to Autonomous Conversion in focused on Aironet 3600 series.
I think it might help since I found some complications with these AP's following this procedure.
Thanks and best regards,
I think you need to look again to your video , the Access point still reboot every 30 sec , (please look again)
this is the issue it keeps rebooting .
any way thank
HI Vinay Sharma,
we got a couple of cisco 1552E and I want to convert the to Autonomous.
I downloaded the Ios from Cisco "c1520-k9w7-tar.153-3.JAB"
Did the steps you mention:
I configured my TFTP server on my Laptop.
# debug capwap console cli
#conf t (config)# interface GigabitEthernet0 (config-if)# ip addr 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0 no shut
archive download-sw /force-reload tftp://10.0.0.2/c1520-k9w7-tar.153-3.JAB.tar
and every time I get " "examining image...""
thanks in advance for your assistance.
