ap 1250 site survey

I am conducting a small site survey at one of my sites and I had the following questions:

1) I want to use the adu to conduct my site survey but from my understanding it only works with an cisco wireless card. Is there any other tool that will works well with my dell wireless card.

2) How do I setup my 1250 so that it is autonomuos. Currently when it boots it consistantly looks for a wlc.
