Cisco Locator Appliance API

Hi all,

we have a cisco wireless infrastructure that includes a WCS and Locator Appliance to manage and monitor the entire cisco equipement.

We want to produce a third party application to obtain information from the device mentioned before using the cisco locator appliance API.

Our objective is to obtain the position of a given wifi user/terminal sending request to the cisco API.

What kind of information (Mac-address, ip-address or other) we have to send to API to obtain the location of the wifi subject, and what kind of information we will receive from it?

Thank all.

when you say you are not able to navigate into the site, you can't get there?   Or once you get there you can't get to anything?  To get the API informaiton, you need to be on the CDN.

Should give you the information on how to get started with CDN

I'd take a look at the developer API site.

Thanks a lot for your answer.

Unfortunately I'm not able to navigate into the site http://developer.cisco.com/web/contextaware.

It would be nice to have a small example that shows how to invoke an API to obtain the location of a terminal wifi.

Thanks.

No,

I see the information on how to get started with CDN, but I still have access to resources. So, since I have urgency to know the solution I posted, It would be nice to have a small example on this issue.

Thanks.

OK.

I sent the request to obtain the license for the documents I need.

While awaiting response, is there someone who tell and/or give me an example on how to invoke Location Appliance API to receive the location of a wifi entity?

Thanks all.

Hi all,

I received the license to download the API documentation, and this have proved useful for the development of our application whose goal is to calculate the position of mobile stations in a given time within a building.

Based on the API documentation, to achieve this goal we need to send an API request to the MSE specifing the business session and mac address of mobile station we have to localize.

The API response gives us the floorid and coordinates x,y,z (lat, long, alt).

Now we have the following doubts (the documentation is unclear about):

  1. is it possible to use the ip address instead of the mac address as parameter in the API request?
  2. the coordinates returned are in feets, meters or others?
  3. What is important to configure in the MS / WCS so that you are able to obtain location information of mobile stations
  4. is it important to load building maps on the MSE or the localization process is indipendent from this?

I hope you help me...it is very very very important.

Thanks a lot.
