L2VPN between XR and XE

I am trying to get a working L2VPN between our XR platforms and our XE platforms. The design is VPLS.

Below is the way I have configured:

ASR 1k:

l2vpn vfi context 3000
 vpn id 3000
  member 10.9.0.197 encapsulation mpls

bridge-domain 3000
 no ip igmp snooping
 member vfi 3000

interface Loopback1
 ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.248

interface Loopback0
 ip address 10.9.0.193 255.255.255.255

interface BDI3000
 ip unnumbered Loopback1 poll
 encapsulation dot1Q 3000

ASR 9010

l2vpn
 bridge group DATA-VLANS
  bridge-domain VLAN-3000
   interface GigabitEthernet0/0/0/2
   !
   neighbor 10.9.0.193 pw-id 3000
   !
   vfi 3000
   !
  !
 !
!
interface GigabitEthernet0/0/0/2
 l2transport
 !
!

FAR END ( ROUTED PORT )

interface GigabitEthernet1/13
description TO WEST 9001 GIG PORT FOR VPLS TEST
 no switchport
 ip vrf forwarding CUSTOMER_B
 ip address 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.248
end

I can see the MAC address  of the FAR END interface in the bridge table of the ASR 1006, but I cannot get pings to pass.

LAB-ASR-1006#sh bridge-domain
Bridge-domain 3000 (2 ports in all)
State: UP                    Mac learning: Enabled
Aging-Timer: 300 second(s)
    BDI3000  (up)
    vfi 3000 neighbor 10.9.0.197 3000
MAC address    Policy  Tag       Age  Pseudoport
   FFFF.FFFF.FFFF flood   static    0    OLIST_PTR:0x8ca6a400
   0014.69FA.243F forward dynamic   299  3000.1020012

Hello Evan,On ASR9k you use

Hello Evan,

On ASR9k you use untagged traffic on GigabitEthernet0/0/0/2 but looks like defining encapsulation dot1Q 3000 on ASR1k. May you remove encapsulation from BDI and test it?

Regards,

/A

This is the correct answer.

This is the correct answer. In our situation, to fit our needs we imposed a tag on the attachment circuit:

interface GigabitEthernet0/0/0/2.3000 l2transport
 encapsulation untagged
rewrite ingress tag push dot1q 3000 symmetric

l2vpn
 bridge group DATA-VLANS
  bridge-domain VLAN-3000
   interface GigabitEthernet0/0/0/2.3000

Thanks akiritch!
