Hello Saul,

It depends on your existing configuration and if you would still have two different BGP AS or you even want to merge these.

You could look for the inter-as mpls vpn configuration guides:

ASR9K:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/routers/asr9000/software/asr9k_r4.3/lxvpn/configuration/guide/vcasr9k43v3.html

7600:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/ios-xml/ios/mp_ias_and_csc/configuration/15-s/mp-vpn-connect-asbr.html

The best approach if you do not use route-reflectors inside each MPLS Domain is to go for option B (which i have included here), where you just extend your bgp vpnv4 on the ASBR. My personal favorite would be to use option C (you need a RR in each domain) but it depends on your existing configuration.

The easiest is option A, but to my knowledge it is not supported with IOS XR.

By any chance do you have any vpnv6 or multicast VPNs as well?

It is not a difficult task to accomplish but it requires a lot of planning and verifying the RT distribution.

HTH,

Michel.
