                  Hello,

we have two Cisco 6509 switches with one SUP and configured with VSS acting as core swithes. closet switches stack of 3750's connect to these two core siwthces. the closet swithces are comeing up and going down and we cannot pinpoint the issue. I am going there to see but based on my understabding the cause could be the VSS switching continously between Active and non-active or master/slave!? I wanted to see what you guys think about this please.gards,

Please advise,

Regards,

Masood

Dear Reza,

I was able to find that issue with some standby related configs missing and that the standby was also missing system boot command so it was having problem deciding which IOS to resort to! Finally it was selecting the first one in the flash which was different from the primary. So after fixing that vss onfigs was ok and vss and the vsl link status was correct but when we decided to ping from a vlan to any Closet switch or hosts off those switches. Pings were failing but when taking the standby out of the picture all pings were successful!

Now, although the system boot cmd on the standby is there and pointing to the right iOS, when links between the two switches are in place the standby hangs in booting but upon unplugging the links it boots up!

This is what I am trying to find now. I will post the new configs soon!

This somehow doesn't make sense since the VSS configs, status, Vsl link are all correct.

Regards,

Masood
