Understanding zonesets

We want to have two VSANs on our MDS switches. The two VSANs will be VSAN 200 and 201. Can both of these zonesets be active at the same time?

zoneset activate name FabricA VSAN 200

zoneset activate name FatbricB VSAN 201

I found this on Cisco's website so I am a bit confused

Each VSAN can have multiple zone sets but only one zone set can be active at any given time

Thanks

Hi Dave,

You can have one "active" zoneset per VSAN.   Since these are seperate VSANs, both can be active at the same time.

You can have multiple zonesets per VSAN in the switch configuration, but only ONE can be active, which wll be the last one that you activate.

Some people create a new zoneset to make changes.  That way, if things go awry, they can just activate the old zoneset again as a backout.  The zoneset is just a group of zones.

Zoning Best Practices

Best regards,

Jim

Thanks for the information.
