Hi Expert,
I need to replace SPA card to resolve the error
%L2-PLIM_ASIC-4-HW_WARNING : plaspa instance 0: (plaspa port 2 jacket slot 0) RSI Spi Error was reported
The plaspa port 2 jacket slot 0 would be SPA slot 0 (0/0/0), correct?

If the power we get is too low, replacement won’t fix it either.

Hi Roger,
RSI Spi Error errors may appear when there are SONET errors on the POS interface. You may want to verify the line first.

Hi Alexei,
I refer to https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3243396#3243396

I encounter the RSI SPI error incrementing if i issue show controller plim asic plasspa error location 0/0/CPU0
RSI SPI error 5020800
RSI SPI error 5020881
RSI SPI error 5020897
RSI SPI error 5020902

Yes, it can be failed SPA, but a probability is higher that there are just SONET errors.
Look at ‘show controller SONET 0/0/0/x’ and verify all the interfaces for any increasing errors.

I didn't see any errors on SONET interface from command show controller SONET 0/0/0/0 and 0/0/0/1
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:TH-ICR-TT1#sh controller SONET 0/0/0/0

Anway, the error messages was reported almost every hour

RSI errors are not 1:1 linked to SONET errors, but errors on the line can cause some RSI errors to appear.
We have B1 errors already, they show we have a problem between this interface and the first connected carrier device. That has to be addressed first.

you mean replace the SPA card will not resolve the error?
04-05-2012 04:35 AM
There is a small possibility that the physical B1 errors are caused by failed SPA or XFP, but I would not start with that as probability is low.
A simple test,
btw, which exactly XFP do you use? I see we have Rx power -24.9 dBm. It may be too low for some XFPs.

I use SFP-OC48-SR
04-05-2012 05:02 AM
The error could be from SPA card or SPF even carrier devices. If we can prove the SPA card is ok so we have to check SFP POS0/0/0/0 for next step?
04-05-2012 05:28 AM
Min Rx power for SFP-OC48-SR is -18dBm
in our case we have -25dBm. That is too low and definitely can cause the errors.
We need to make sure we work in the supported range and the Rx power is from -3 to -18dBm range.

/A

I agree with you. I will try to replace SPF-OC48-SR first.
