configuration of css with mirror/span-port functionality

how would/can you configure a css device with a mirror/span-port? has the status changed during the last months? (see conversation a while ago). it should be used for attaching an ids device (or other sniffing services). i'm looking for a better solution than using an additional switch/hub for just this purpose.

My cisco rep says you'll have to have a switch. There's no plans for this to be integrated in the future. You could talk to Cisco and file an enhancement request.

Hi,

Tipically, The CSS should be a stand alone box. I mean, you have to have a core/distribution switch and connect the CSS to it a then the servers to the core/distribution switch as well. Till now this is the way i'm designing CSS solution's (it is being presented by Cisco this way....) -- for CSS 11005x series

So, with this topology, you can connect the IDS probe to the core/distribution switch and apply the port monitoring/span...
