Can I replace a 3550 with a 4948-10ge

Can I use a 4948-10ge switch as a direct replacement for a 3550 switch. I'm concerned about the 10 gig uplink port on the 4948. Can it connect to a 1 gig gbic port on a 6509? Is there anyway to make this work?

you can replace the switch , but enable the proper configuration between the 4948 and 6509 switches ie speed , trunk modes, MTU , timer settings etc.
